Who are the Chelsea DirtDogz?
The Chelsea DirtDogz Baseball Organization was created to provide a high-level developmental "bridge" for Chelsea Little League (CLL) players. The DirtDogz currently have four competitive teams, including ages 13u, 12u, 11u, and 9u/10u and look to expand for the 2026-2027 season. There are sixteen coaches between the teams as well as a Board to maintain the administrative duties of the organization.
Why choose the DirtDogz? The DirtDogz are comprised of athletes from the Chelsea area and participate in the CLL season through Majors (age 12), as well as additional skill building activities, local travel basement tournaments, and service projects within the Chelsea community. What makes the DirtDogz unique from other baseball organizations?
The DirtDogz takes great pride in helping the players understand the value of teamwork while building a strong sense of responsibility and ownership - both on and off the field. The DirtDogz strive to build a premier roster of players while cultivating the next generation of leaders who make a lasting impact in the Chelsea community.
Can I play in Chelsea Little League?

What is the time commitment?
From September through the end of October, the DirtDogz usually practice one day a week (typically Saturdays) and may participate in local scrimmages or games during. From January through March, the DirtDogz have 1-2 indoor practices per week, usually on a weekend day and one during the week.
From April through July, the DirtDogz continue weekly practices on non-game weeks and two practices on game weeks. DirtDogz players are expected to be at all scheduled baseball activities during the baseball season, April through July. Off-season activities and sports are also highly encouraged as many players are dual-sport athletes.
Are DirtDogz expected to play in the Chelsea Little League?
The DirtDogz organization was created to provide a high-level developmental "bridge" for competitive CLL players. The DirtDogz stay rooted in the CLL system through Majors (age 12), and participate in the local season while adding travel tournaments, skill-building clinics, and community service activities to the players' schedules. The DirtDogz aim to provide elite coaching and competition opportunities for players and train to compete for roster spots with the CLL All Stars teams. DirtDogz players 13U and up are not required to participate in CLL.
How many games should I expect the DirtDogz to play and when? The DirtDogz teams enter travel baseball tournaments mainly in southeast Michigan, usually within one hour drive time from Chelsea. These tournaments are typically Saturday and Sundays but they can start as early as Friday. Depending on the age group, DirtDogz aim to play in three to six tournaments a year which equates to nine to eighteen games at a minimum. These tournaments occur in April, May and June mainly and will coincide with the CLL season. In total, the players could see a minimum of thirty games between DirtDogz and CLL. DirtDogz teams 13U and up participate in additional tournaments than younger teams.
How large is the roster or players for each team?
Each team will have a target of twelve players per team, the size of the team is at the discretion of the coach.
How much does DirtDogz cost?
The highest age groups the cost is approximately $700 per year, which covers uniforms and tournament fees. This amount does not include CLL costs. If a DirtDogz member encounters financial barriers, scholarship opportunities may be available to reduce costs through donations from sponsors.
